There are
bands that perform folk music. And then there are bands that live it.
Rangle Sardar are firmly in the second camp. Their story is rooted in the soil
of Punjab itself.
Formed in Moga, Punjab, this fearless four-piece — Ajam Khan, Maninderpal Singh Brar, Sabar Singh Khokhar, and Jaskaran Singh Gill — came together the way the best creative partnerships often do: by chance, at a college youth festival, united by an instant and undeniable musical connection. What started as four young men from the fields and villages of Punjab has grown into one of the most authentic and exciting Punjabi folk groups of their generation.
Rangle Sardar's YouTube channel has grown to over 215,000 subscribers across 436 videos, with their Instagram following reaching 164,000 and TikTok audiences growing rapidly. Two of their songs have become staples at Punjabi weddings worldwide — Gallan Do, which has accumulated an extraordinary 32 million YouTube views, and Tu Te Mai, with over 19 million views. These are not just songs. They are shared moments at some of the most important days in people's lives.
Their cultural reach extends far beyond Punjab. In September 2019, Rolling Stone India featured Rangle Sardar for their deeply moving song Karam, created as part of an Equals Sessions project in collaboration with Kochi-based band When Chai Met Toast, produced by the New Delhi non-profit Anahad Foundation — an organisation dedicated to the preservation and evolution of India's classical and folk music heritage. The Karam video has since surpassed 2.8 million views on YouTube, introducing Rangle Sardar to a global audience hungry for music with genuine soul.
Their live reputation is equally impressive. They have performed at the Sanjha Punjab Mela in Belgium (2025), at the Vaisakhi Mela in Auckland, New Zealand (2023), at a private wedding event in Hong Kong (2025), and at the PTC Music Rising Star Awards 2024. They have had the honour of performing at the weddings of celebrated Punjabi singer and actor Gurnam Bhullar and noted singer-songwriter Bir Singh — a testament to the trust and reverence the broader Punjabi music community places in them.
Inspired by the likes of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Surjit Bindrakhia and Manmohan Waris, and guided by the lyrical vision of group member Sabar Singh whose original compositions form the backbone of much of their repertoire, Rangle Sardar are not simply preserving Punjabi folk culture — they are reimagining it for a generation that needs it more than ever.
In June and July 2026, Rangle Sardar make history with their debut UK tour — their first performances on British soil, bringing the soulful, storytelling power of authentic Punjabi folk music to audiences across the country.
Their music speaks. Their numbers prove it. This is only the beginning
