The Light Ship - A Light Festival Event

Set sail on a journey of light and drama with Circo Rum Ba Ba's The Light Ship, a breathtaking highlight of the Circus of Life at this year’s Gravesham Light Festival. This glowing frigate will navigate the streets, battling raging storms and heaving waves as it tells a tale of courage, teamwork, and the indomitable spirit of the sea.

With its salt-soaked crew desperately steering through turbulent seas, the Light Ship transforms the town into a vivid maritime adventure. The captain shouts orders as the crew struggles with the sails, while the hauntingly beautiful figurehead wails in despair from beneath the bowsprit. As the storm rages, the ship is gallantly pulled by a group of local volunteers.

Just as all seems lost, the figurehead spots land—and her operatic aria calls an albatross to soar above the deck in an enchanting aerial dance. The Light Ship finds refuge, and the crew’s struggle ends in a triumphant moment of beauty and relief.

The Light Ship will be based at the New Road Quadrant and voyaging up and down the high street at approximately 6:45 & 7:30.
